These are the guardians of the farm. Isabell, call her Issy, was in foal when acquired and it was a delight when she delivered Penelope around the end of June 2011. Penny has been handled since birth and has become about the sweetest and most curious of all the 'children'. When the sheep were first moved in, they were being visited almost ever night by a pack of coyotes, thanks DNR and careless fox hunters, encircling our pasture around 10pm. Shortly after acquiring Issy, they started visiting less frequently until now it has become rare to hear them close by and they seem to be keeping their distance from our pasture when they are. I hope if you ever find yourself in need of a guardian, you'll consider the standard donkey.
