When considering the purchase of Icelandics, I know they are somewhat expensive but, please don't forget the versatility of the breed. Since their coat grows to 18" in a year, you will get two fleeces and possible three in lieu of one with other breeds. They can be milked and their milk frozen for up to a year without loss of quality. They also produce one of the mildest, premium cuts of lamb available. Add to all this that Iceland is a non-grain producing country and as such, this breed will attain ideal processing weight in 4-5 months from just pasture, reducing your feeding costs significantly. You will find lambs from other farms often sell for $450 and up however, because I want to promote the breed, the lambs offered here range from $175 - $200 for unregistered and $350 - $450 for registered. Thank you for considering Bizzie Lizzie Farm.
This year, everyone seems to have been breed so I am anticipating at least 9 lambs to be available. Last years lambs sold out fast, so if you are considering Icelandics, keep in touch. Lambs should start appearing toward the end of March and don't forget to check out our fiber page for washed fleeces if you enjoy hand spinning yarn. Also don't forget to roll over the pictures for captions and other treats!
Everyone has now birthed and they are a pretty bunch. Many have already been spoken for.
